Day 28: Confirmed

By way of update, Tilly has cancer in her lungs.  So we're now in the mode of keeping her comfortable until the time comes to help her along.  We don't have a good sense of how fast this is going to go, but judging by the rapidity of the onset of symptoms, and by the fact that she's already working harder to breathe than she usually would, I don't think we have much time.  So, painkillers, lots of careful cuddling, diced up chicken (and even some lamb!), and time together.

(Me and my girlie, from a couple of Christmases ago)

Oh no, giver her lots of hugs and cuddle time. It's so hard with our pets when they get older and then not well.

So sorry about the bad news. Sadly with lungs, it doesn't take long. Rocky's cancer started in his stomach, but by once it go to the lungs, he was down for the count pretty fast. At least you know they don't suffer.
It's the terrible thing about pets - they just don't live as long as us. But it's far better to love them for the short time that we can, than live without them.

I’m so very sorry. If only they could live forever..

Ah, sweet Tilly. I still think of her as a puppy. I am glad she will spend the coming time being told she is and will be cherished.
